White stoneware mask with various raku glazes. The penny is for scale.
I was trying for an aquatic, alien feel. The line of holes on the side are similar to the kind you see in many sea shells. The dark parts of the white half are more silver than they appear in the photo, and there's a large coppery red patch where the glare is. NOTE: This is one piece in a series of nonfunctional, representational masks. I began the series around early 2001. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
